St. Louis the new Chess Capital?

If St. Louis, Missouri was not the chess capital of the USA before now, it may be soon!

The US Champion GM Hikaru Nakamura is moving this weekend to St. Louis. GM Nakamura feels that St. Louis has now become the nationwide hub for chess, with the 2008 opening of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center as well as the 2010 US Chess Championship to be held May 13-25.

You can see an interview with GM Hikaru Nakamura on his transfer to St. Louis here. See him in speed chess action here (don’t blink or you may miss most of the action!).

ChessCentral looks forward to the excitement at the US Championship and wishes all contenders good luck!
